Join First Church at the White House to Protest Family Separations!
Trump may have temporarily ended family separations at the border, but he now wants to imprison innocent families together in facilities reminiscent of the shameful WWII Japanese internment camps. Thousands of people will protest outside the White House on Saturday, June 30, and First Church needs to join the fight! As a sanctuary congregation, we have committed to fight policies that unjustly target immigrants and refugees, and we need to raise our voices now.
We hope you will join a group that will meet at First Church on June 30 at 10:30 am and will leave at 11 am to walk to the protest, which is scheduled to end at 2 pm. We will make posters before heading to the White House. The parking garage will be open and parking passes can be validated, but you will need a key card for garage access or you can park briefly on the street and ask someone in the narthex to use their card.
There is more info on the Women’s March Facebook event. Caitlin Smith and Meghan Thompson from the Sanctuary Working Group will lead our group, and they can be reached at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. Speak up, speak out, resist!
