First Congregational United Church of Christ
In the heart of downtown DC is a community
of welcome and compassion;
asking questions and seeking answers together;
of nurturing hearts and minds of children, youth, and adults from all kinds of families;
getting involved, sleeves rolled up, in God’s good work of justice and compassion;
and of beauty, silence, music, art, laughter, hope, Spirit.
Check us out and find a place where you can find spiritual renewal or be a prophetic voice in the nation’s capital.
This church community is part of the United Church of Christ denomination –
a network of congregations across the nation who cherish diversity, foster the spiritual life
follow the way of Jesus, and who advocate for equality and justice for all –
especially those who are vulnerable.
So join us. We’ve been around for over 150 years, yet our building, our community, our commitment are fresh – inspired by a still-speaking and doing God.
We were the first integrated church in the city, were instrumental in the founding of Howard University, and have participated throughout the years in the struggles for racial and economic justice and LGBTQ, women’s, and civil rights.
And now, we want you to share in this continuing adventure, this incredibly holy future. Try us out on any Sunday at 10:30AM when our community gathers for worship.
We’ll love meeting you.
