Join us at 10:30 in the sanctuary or join us by Zoom this Sunday as we celebrate the ancient feast of communion and mark the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence. We will share in a prayer of confession and words of assurance. We will hear the bright words of Emma Lazarus’ poem, which contributed a verse to the Statue of Liberty. Our focus scriptures come from 1 Samuel 11 (Nathan confronts David) and Ephesians 3:16-21 (rooted and grounded in love). Rev. Amanda will preach a sermon tied to our summer theme “Unsung Heroes,” followed by Jim Riker’s special music offering, “Up Over My Head,” by Betty Mae Fikes. Rev. Amanda and Rev. Laura Simmons will invite us to the communion feast. For those joining us from home, please prepare your table with the elements of bread and cup, which we will bless and break together.
