Join us at 10:30 in the sanctuary or click here to join us by Zoom as we celebrate the baptism of Simon Hendler-Voss and mark Indigenous Peoples Sunday, concluding our fall theme, “Choose This Day.” Hannah Long-Higgins will call us to worship by leading us in a land acknowledgement. Simon will be baptized by Rev. Amanda and Rev. Sam, with a special blessing offered by the Rev. Sara Wilcox (Land of the Sky UCC). Brendan McFerran and Simon Hendler-Voss will serve as our scripture readers with focus texts from Mark 10:17-31 (rich young ruler) and Hebrews 4:12-16, and Rev. Amanda will preach. The First Church Choir will sing the anthem “A Living Faith” by John Shepherd under the direction of Dennis Turner. Our Second Sunday special offering recipient will be the Native American Rights Fund and we will learn more about their important work to support the Native vote. Then we will offer a sending blessing for a beloved member of the church, Hannah Long-Higgins, as she departs Washington, DC to relocate to Portland, Maine. Join us for this special Sunday!
