Drop-in Center Thanksgiving Meal: November 25
As we prepare to embrace family, friends, food and football this Thanksgiving season, the First Church family is invited to help make it a special time for guests to the Downtown Drop-In Center. For the fourth year, we will host a home-cooked, fall-themed dinner for the Drop-In Center on Monday, November 25, 2019.
Just as we have done in past years, we ask church members and friends to volunteer that evening to help make the project a success and to provide side dishes to go with the meat the program will purchase. Approximately 100 young people who are experiencing homelessness attended last year’s dinner.
Vegetable casseroles, yams, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, collard greens, muffins − these are just some of the dishes donated in past years, but please use your imagination! We’d prefer you use single-use recyclable dishes for easier clean-up. SAAC will purchase and distribute some aluminum pans for your use.
Volunteers are also needed to set-up, serve, and/or clean-up. Please contact Priscilla Waters at (240) 601-6239 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you are able to volunteer a few hours on that evening or make a dish to share. A Survey Monkey will also launch soon to capture the time you’d like to volunteer and/or the dish you will bring.
