Weekend of Action: June 19-21
Juneteenth: Friday, June 19: Click here to register for the noon webinar “And Still We Rise,” organized and led by National UCC staff members on the occasion of Juneteenth, when we mark the official end of slavery in the U.S. The webinar will announce four years of focused anti-racism movement work from the UCC’s Racial Justice Ministries, led by Dr. Velda Love. The webinar will last 90 minutes and be recorded for viewing by those unable to attend.
Then, at 4:00 PM, all churches in the Central Atlantic Conference are invited to take a stand against racism and for the sacred worth of black lives outside our buildings. We will again occupy 10th & G and toll bells for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Click here to sign up, come with masks and plan to observe social distancing of at least six feet.
Poor Peoples’ Campaign, Saturday, June 20: Click here to sign up for the Mass Peoples’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington, which will take place on a digital platform and include the largest digital gathering of poor people, religious leaders, advocates, and people of conscience.
Joint Worship Service, RIP Medical Debt, Sunday, June 21: On June 21 we are grateful to join other area-UCC congregations to mark our collective campaign to pay off medical debt of some of our most debt-burdened neighbors living in poverty. Look out for the Zoom link next week. The service will include a welcome from the Rev. Freeman Palmer, Conference Minister.
