Join us at 10:30 in the sanctuary or by Zoom as we mark Indigenous Peoples Sunday, continuing our fall theme, “The Realm of God.” Ryan McFerran will lead us in our land acknowledgement. Patrick Darling-LaGamma will call us to worship reflecting on his service at the Cheyenne River Reservation and leading us in a responsive reading of the Great Spirit prayer of the Lakota. The First Church Choir will sing “For the Beauty of the Earth” under the direction of Dennis Turner. Diane Brenneman and Judith Gray will serve as our scripture readers with focus texts from Deuteronomy 8:7-18 (promised land) and Luke 17:11-19 (ten healed of leprosy). Rev. Sam will preach the sermon. Our Second Sunday Special Offering will benefit Neighbors in Need, a special offering of the United Church of Christ to support ministries of justice and compassion, which dedicates a third of all gifts to the Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM). We will also share in prayers of the people and speak together a First Nations Version of the Prayer of our Savior from an Indigenous translation. Join us!
