Worship with us this Faith & Democracy Sunday

Join us in the sanctuary or click here to join us by Zoom this Sunday as we mark Faith & Democracy Sunday and continue our fall theme, “Gathered from the Four Corners of the Earth.” The First Church Choir will invite us to cross the threshold into sacred time with the introit, “O Taste and See.” Ellen Bushmiller will offer a personal call to worship, and Rev. Sam will invite the children forward for a children’s moment. Diane Brenneman and Lucille Dickinson will serve as our scripture readers with focus texts from 2 Samuel 1 and John 16:16-22 (sorrow into joy). Rev. Amanda will preach. The choral anthem will lift up the prayer of St. Francis. We will receive a call to action from the Rev. Marvin Silver and Kecia Monroe, organizers of our 2022 campaign for collective worship, prayer, and justice action related to the midterm elections. Michael Hopkins will share our congregational initiatives that are part of this campaign and the significance of our participation in a time of voter suppression amid threats to democracy. We will also enjoy prayers of the people. Join us!
