Join us at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary or click here to join us by Zoom on Ash Wednesday as we participate in the ancient ritual that reminds us of the frailty of human living–the imposition of the ashes. The service marks the start of our six week Lenten journey together as we prepare our hearts to receive the mystery of resurrection at Easter. The service will feature deeply felt scripture readings, prayer, and beautiful music with the First Church choir singing “Deep River.” Rev. Sam will offer the Ash Wednesday meditation on our Lenten theme, “Seeking: Honest Questions for Deeper Faith.” Then, Rev. Amanda and Rev. Sam will invite all who wish to receive the ashes in the form of a cross on your forehead or hand. If you plan to join us by Zoom, please prepare your own ashes or anointing oil for the service.
