Join us at 10:30 in the sanctuary or click here to join us by Zoom as we celebrate World Communion Sunday and continue our fall theme, “Renewing the Journey.” Rev. Laura Johnson and Sandy Sorensen will serve as our scripture readers with focus texts from Exodus 17:1-7 (water from rock) and Philippians 2:1-13 (name above all names). Rev. Amanda will preach the sermon. The First Church choir will sing the anthem “Salmo 150” focused on Psalm 150. Rev. Sam will lift up prayers of the people, and preside over communion with Rev. Amanda as we form a circle to take the bread and cup. We will display bread from around the world as we lift up in prayer places of struggle and strife (this variety of bread will be available during coffee hour). If you are joining us from home, please take the time to prepare your table with the sacred elements of bread and cup, which we will bless and break together. We will also hear the Lord’s Prayer in a multiplicity of languages (Spanish by Peter Tracey, Japanese by Alisa Tanaka-Dodge, and Portuguese by Zua Companhia).

Rev. Sam invites the children to begin their Sunday in the Christian Education suite for Sunday school, they will return midway through the service to participate in communion with us.

Following worship, enjoy fellowship and coffee, cheeses and baked goods from around the world for an extended coffee hour hosted by Grace Bassler and LaTayna Purnell. Join us!
